Social Media Coordinator

RISE Travel Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire responsible, impactful, sustainable, and ethical travel through education. RISE Travel Institute is run entirely by remote-based volunteers who are dedicated to inspiring young travelers to create positive social, economic and environmental impact on travel destinations.

We are looking for two (2) experienced Social Media Coordinators to join our virtual team. You will be responsible for implementing our social media strategy in order to increase our web traffic and our brand awareness.

​

You will work with a dedicated and talented global team in an asynchronous remote setting. If you have the passion for our mission, the background for this position, and would like to join our team in mainstreaming sustainable travel through education, we’d be happy to have you on board!

Responsibilities

​

  • Implement a cohesive social media strategy on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram

  • Work closely with our Managers and Content Creation Team to share high-quality content for social media platforms 

  • Create content and graphics for our social media campaign 

  • Post and schedule content, repurpose content from LinkedIn and digital media (guidelines will be provided) 

  • Research and report to Manager sustainable travel content, new social media trends and hashtags 

  • Facilitate community engagement (respond to queries and comments on our social media) 

  • Assist in preparing monthly reports on web traffic and measure KPIs 

  • Analyze and report on  data in order to suggest effective solutions for content optimization 

  • Model and promote equity, inclusion, and accessibility in marketing materials and campaigns

  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous learning and ongoing personal development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

 

Required Qualifications

​

  • Flexibility in schedule to regularly spend hour (4) hours per week performing the responsibilities of this role

  • Experience creating content, posting, and engaging on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn

  • Proficiency with Slack, Google Workspace tools, Gmail, and social media content management tools

  • Ability to communicate and follow approval process to meet deadline and schedule

  • Strong editing and writing skills

  • Strategize with RISE leaders and marketing team on content-based funnel creation 

  • Current knowledge of industry best practices and trends 

  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainable travel, sustainability, and social justice.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across operations teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

 

Desired Qualifications

​

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or related field

  • 3+ years of experience in social media marketing or a similar role

 

Time Commitment

 

All volunteers are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) committing to:

  • At least four (4) hours per week to work in their role

  • A minimum of one year of service
