Social Media Support Volunteer

RISE Travel Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to create a more just and equitable world through travel education.​ We envision a world where travelers practice and promote responsible, impactful, sustainable, and ethical travel that uplifts global communities and protects natural ecosystems. RISE Travel Institute is run entirely by remote-based volunteers who are dedicated to inspiring travelers to create positive social, economic, and environmental impact on travel destinations.
We are looking for two (2) volunteers with interest or skills in social media content creation and engagement to join our virtual team. You will help share and promote content on our social media channels to support RISE’s mission and outreach efforts.

You will be part of a dedicated and talented global team in an asynchronous remote setting. If you have the passion for our mission, the qualifications for this role, and would like to join our team in mainstreaming sustainable travel through education, we’d be happy to welcome you!

Examples of Support Activities

Volunteers typically support a subset of the activities below, based on interest, skills, and availability. Tasks may vary week to week.

Support the sharing of high-quality content on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram

Collaborate with the Content Team to help promote our social media initiatives

Assist in creating content and graphics for social media posts and campaigns

Help post, schedule, and repurpose content from LinkedIn and other digital media
-
Research sustainable travel content, emerging social media trends, and hashtags
-
Engage with our online community by responding to comments and questions
-
Contribute to monthly tracking of web traffic and social media metrics

Share observations or suggestions on content performance with the Content Team

Model and promote equity, inclusion, and accessibility in social media content
-
Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous personal learning in these areas
Qualifications for Success in This Role

These qualifications reflect skills and experience that support success in this role. Not all are required, and we welcome volunteers who are eager to learn.

Experience creating content, posting, and engaging on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn

Experience with content management systems, Slack, and Google Workspace

Strong editing and writing skills, with ability to follow guidance and collaborate with team

Interest in helping strategize social media content and supporting marketing initiatives

Knowledge of current social media trends and best practices
-
Demonstrated commitment to sustainable travel, sustainability, and social justice
-
Ability to communicate effectively across teams and explain concepts in plain language
-
Helpful/Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or related field or 3+ years of experience in social media marketing or related roles
Volunteer Commitments Requested

We ask all volunteers to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

Volunteers typically contribute four (4) hours per week, on a flexible schedule

We request a one-year period of service to support program continuity and cohesion
