RISE Travel Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to create a more just and equitable world through travel education.​ We envision a world where travelers practice and promote responsible, impactful, sustainable, and ethical travel that uplifts global communities and protects natural ecosystems. RISE Travel Institute is run entirely by remote-based volunteers who are dedicated to inspiring travelers to create positive social, economic, and environmental impact on travel destinations.
We are looking for an experienced Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding Support Volunteer to join our team. You will help with recruitment, onboarding, retention, and offboarding efforts to support RISE’s mission and operational sustainability.

You will be part of a dedicated and talented global team in an asynchronous remote setting. If you have the passion for our mission, the background for this position, and would like to join our team in mainstreaming sustainable travel through education, we’d be happy to welcome you!

Volunteer Activities

Assist with recruiting volunteers, creating role postings, sharing opportunities with networks, and support screening

Help onboard new volunteers and assist with basic paperwork and welcome communications

Support volunteer offboarding and conduct exit check-ins

Help prepare and maintain accessible documents summarizing RISE policies and volunteer guidelines

Respond to basic volunteer queries promptly and professionally, escalating sensitive or complex matters to Executive Director

Provide project support as needed (data entry, scheduling, or outreach

Attend RISE team meetings and events when available
-
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through ongoing learning, inclusive collaboration, and thoughtful awareness of bias

Model and promote equity, inclusion, and accessibility in fundraising communications, donor outreach, and supporter engagement efforts. Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous personal learning in these areas
Qualifications

Strong editing, writing, and verbal communication skills
-
Comfortable using Slack, Google Docs, Gmail, recruitment systems
-
Able to communicate and follow process to meet deadlines and schedules

Well-organized and systems-oriented; experience with Slack automations a plus

Strong organizational skills and confidentiality for handling volunteer records

Demonstrated commitment to sustainable travel, sustainability, and social justice

Ability to communicate effectively across teams and explain concepts in plain language
-
Helpful/Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field or 3+ years of experience in volunteer management, recruitment, or related roles
Volunteer Commitments Requested

We ask all volunteers to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

Volunteers typically contribute four (4) hours per week, on a flexible schedule

We request a one-year period of service to support program continuity and cohesion
